APH4 protein is anaminocyclitol phosphotransferase that catalyzes the phosphorylation of hygromycin and closely related aminoglycoside antibiotics. | 11/26/03 | Proposed Revocation of Tolerance Exemptions for Certain Biopesticides This document proposes to revoke exemptions from the requirement of a tolerance, as expressed in 40 CFR part 180, on residues of the following pesticide active ingredients because there are no active Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) product registrations applicable to these exemptions:
In addition, this document proposes to revoke the tolerance exemption for Bacillus thuringiensis CryIA(b) delta-endotoxin and the genetic material necessary for its production in corn because that tolerance exemption has been replaced by a tolerance exemption that applies to all plants. The regulatory actions proposed in this document contribute toward the Agency's tolerance reassessment requirements of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA) section 408(q), as amended by the Food Quality Protection Act (FQPA) of 1996. By law, EPA is required by August 2006 to reassess tolerances in existence on August 2, 1996. For counting purposes, the proposed revocations would count as nine FQPA tolerance/exemption reassessments made toward the August 2006 review deadline. |

| 11/19/03 | New Active Ingredient Conditional Approval - EPA issued a notice, published in the Federal Register of March 28, 2002 (67 FR 1493) (FRL-6827-7), which announced that Thermo Trilogy Corporation (Certis USA), 9145 Guilford Road, Suite 175, Columbia, MD, 21046, had submitted an application to register the pesticide product Olive Fly Attract and Kill (A & K) Target Device containing two new active ingredients (EPA File Symbol 70051-TA). This product contained two new active ingredients; ammonium bicarbonate at 12.8% and the arthropod pheromone 1 ,7-dioxaspiro-(5 ,5) undecane (Spiroketal) at 0.2%. During the course of the review of the Section 3 application for Olive Fly Attract and Kill (A & K) Target Device (EPA File Symbol 70051-TA) the Agency determined that a separate registration for the technical grade of 1 ,7-dioxaspiro-(5,5) undecane was needed. The registrant then submitted a pesticide application (7/18/02) for a section three registration for the product Certis Technical Olive Fly Pheromone containing the active ingredient 1,7-dioxaspiro-(5,5) undecane at 97.6 percent. This new product was assigned EPA File Symbol 7005 1-TT. The receipt of this application was not published in the Federal Register. The application for Certis Technical Olive Fly Pheromone (EPA Registration Number 70051-77), was approved on September 16, 2003, for use in the manufacturing of end-use agricultural products for control of olive fly. |

| 6/11/03 | Experimental Use Permit Application - Circle One Global, Inc., One Arthur St., P.O. Box 28, Shellman, GA 39886-0028, has applied for an EUP for field testing of a new end-use product of a microbial pesticide containing the active ingredient, Aspergillus flavus NRRL 21882, in a non-crop destruct program. The product is to be ground applied and is a granular formulation. The requested EUP is for a total of 5,000 acres to be treated for a total application of 10 lbs of the active ingredient. Application of the pesticide is proposed to reduce aflatoxin-producing colonies of Aspergillus flavus on the crop and in the soil by competitive displacement. Testing of 100 lbs of the active ingredient will occur in three States: Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. |
| 6/11/03 | Final Tolerance Actions - EPA is amending the text of the exemption from the requirement of a tolerance for methoprene and is revoking all of the tolerances for residues for methoprene because a recent EPA review finds that no harm is expected to the public from exposure to residues of methoprene. Therefore, these tolerances are no longer needed and their associated uses are covered by tolerance exemptions. Also, EPA is revoking the exemptions for watermelon mosaic virus-2 coat protein, and zucchini yellow mosaic virus coat protein and specific portions of the viral genetic material when used as plant-incorporated protectants in squash, because these exemptions are covered in later sections of 40 CFR part 180. |
