EPA issued a notice, published in the Federal Register of August 11, 1999, which announced that AVA Chemical , had submitted applications to register the pesticide products, Avachem Sucrose Octanoate Manufacturing Use Product [63%], (EPA File Symbol 70950-R), and Sucrose Octanoate [32.1%], a biological insecticide end-use product (EPA File Symbol 70950-E), containing sucrose octanoate (C8 fatty acid mono-, di- and triesters of sucrose octanoate and sucrose dioctanoate) ([alpha]-D-glucopyranoside, [beta]-D-fructofuranosyl, monooctanoate and dioctanoate), which has since been designated by the Agency as sucrose octanoate esters [([alpha]-D-glucopyranosyl, [beta]-D-fructofuranosyl- octanoate), mono-, di- and triesters of sucrose octanoate]. These products were not previously registered. The applications were approved on September 16, 2002, as Avachem Sucrose Octanoate Manufacturing Use Product (EPA Registration Number 70950-1) for formulating into biochemical insecticide/miticide end-use products and Avachem Sucrose Octanoate [40.0%] (EPA Registration Number 70950-2) for use as a biochemical insecticide/miticide end-use product. 3. EPA also issued a notice, published in the Federal Register of August 11, 1999, which announced that BioSafe Systems, had submitted an application to register the pesticide product, TerraCare Granular, Algaecide, Fungicide (EPA File Symbol 70299-G), containing the active ingredient sodium percarbonate at 40% redesignated as sodium carbonate peroxyhydrate. This product was not previously registered. The application was approved on September 20, 2002, as TerraCyteTM (EPA Registration Number 70299-3) for use as an algaecide and fungicide on ornamental plants and turf. 4. EPA issued a notice, published in the Federal Register of March 8, 2002, which announced that Greenville Farms, had submitted an application to register the pesticide product, Woad Warrior, a herbicide (EPA File Symbol 73417-R), containing Puccinia thlaspeos ``strain woad'' on rust- infected pieces of dyer's woad at 100% and at least 7.6 x 109 teliospores/pound of woad warrior. This product was not previously registered. The application was approved on June 26, 2002, as Woad Warrior containing the rust Puccinia thlaspeos ``strain woad'' as the active ingredient. (EPA Registration Number 73417-1) for controlling dyer's woad, an invasive weed rapidly spreading in several Western states. |

| 8/30/02 | Application for Experimental Use Permit - This notice announces receipt of an application, 69493-EUP-R, from Interregional Research Project Number 4 (IR-4) requesting an experimental use permit (EUP) for the biochemical pesticide sodium metasilicate which is mixed with other ingredients to prepare the end use product known as TRIAD, which contains 2.41% sodium metasilicate. The Agency has determined that the application may be of regional and national significance. Therefore, the Agency is soliciting comments on this application. IR-4 has requested an EUP for a 2 year period, commencing January 1, 2002 to January 1, 2004. The objective of this EUP is to evaluate the use of TRIAD to control insects and diseases of selected fruits and vegetables in a large geographical area on many important minor crops. | 8/21/02 | New Active Ingredient Approval - EPA issued a notice, published in the Federal Register of 3/21/01, which announced that Monsanto Company, of St. Louis, MO, had submitted an application to register the pesticide product, Bollgard II Cotton (EPA File Symbol 524-LEE) containing the active ingredient Bacillus thuringiensis Cry2Ab protein and the genetic material necessary for its production (Vector GHBK11L) in cotton. Monsanto transformed a Bollgard cotton variety with vector GHBK11L using particle bombardment to add the Cry2Ab gene for full commercial registration on cotton. | 6/28/02 | Clarified Hydrophobic Extract of Neem Oil; Pesticide Tolerance; Technical Correction A final tolerance exemption for clarified hydrophobic extract of neem oil on various commodities was published in the Federal Register of December 13, 1995. This technical correction removes the reference to the registration number in the text, considered necessary so as not to limit any other registrant. This would apply to anyone who wishes to use this chemical mixture from an alternate source in a pesticide product. | |

The EUP issued to Mycogen Seeds c/o Dow AgroSciences allowed the planting of 354 acres of field corn. The EUP issued to Pioneer Hi-Bred allowed the planting of 140 acres of field corn. The EUP amendment for Monsanto lifted the crop destruct requirement of the Agency's April 27, 2001 4,000 acre EUP approval. The EUP amendment/extension for Monsanto allowed the planting of 9,400 acres of field corn. These EUPs are effective from April 5, 2002 to April 30, 2002 for Monsanto's amendment lifting the crop destruct provision for the 4,000 acre EUP, from April 10, 2002 to February 28, 2003 for Monsanto's 9,400 acre EUP amendment/extension, April 10, 2002 to March 31, 2003 for Mycogen Seeds, and April 10, 2002 to April 30, 2003 for Pioneer Hi-Bred. Tolerance exemptions have been established for residues of the active ingredients in or on field corn, sweet corn, or popcorn in 40 CFR 180.1214 and 180.1217. |

| 6/20/02 | Hydrogen Peroxide; An Amendment to an Exemption From the Requirement of a Tolerance; Technical Correction In the Federal Register of February 28, 2002 (67 FR 9214) (FRL-6822-7), EPA revised an exemption from the requirement of a tolerance for residues of the biochemical hydrogen peroxide. In the SUMMARY and the codified text, a phrase was inadvertently omitted. This document corrects those errors. On page 9214, third column, the first sentence of the summary is corrected to read as follows: ``This regulation establishes an amendment to an exemption from the requirement of a tolerance for residues of the biochemical hydrogen peroxide in or on all food commodities when applied/used at the rate of ≤ 1% hydrogen peroxide per application on growing and postharvest crops.'' | |
| 6/12/02 | New Active Ingredient Approval - EPA issued a notice, published in the Federal Register of September 19, 2001, which announced that JP BioRegulators, Inc., Suite 125, 3230 Deming Way, Middleton, WI 53562 (now called Nutra-Park Inc., 8383 Greenway Blvd., Suite 520, Middleton, WI 53562, had submitted applications to register the pesticide products LPE E94T (EPA File Symbol 70515-E) and LPE-94 20% Aqueous (EPA File Symbol 70515-R) containing 94% and 20% lysophosphatidylethanolamine, respectively. The registrant subsequently submitted a lower concentration formulation with 10% LPE and 90% other ingredients for 70515-R. These products were not previously registered. The applications listed below were approved on March 26, 2002 for these growth regulator products containing 94% and 10% LPE and 6% and 90% other ingredients respectively: 1. LPE E94T (EPA Registration Number 70515-2) for manufacturing use only product. 2.
