Lake Michigan Carferry Service, Inc. Compliance with Consent Decree

In May 2015, following an inspection of the S.S. Badger with the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. EPA confirmed that Lake Michigan Carferry Service, Inc. (LMC) of Ludington, Michigan, had taken all the steps necessary to permanently stop the discharge of coal ash into Lake Michigan.

LMC’s elimination of coal ash discharge was the result of a Clean Water Act enforcement action taken by EPA in September 2013 to ensure compliance with the water quality standard for mercury. The following documents show LMC's compliance with the September 13, 2013 consent decree.
