Summary
NOTICE: Extension of Public Comment Period to January 9, 2017
WHAT THIS NOTICE IS ABOUT
The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is extending the period for public comment to January 9, 2017, on a proposal to issue a hazardous waste management permit for the Evoqua Water Technologies LLC facility located at the Colorado River Indian Tribes’ Reservation, 2523 Mutahar Street near Parker, Arizona. The purpose of EPA’s proposal to issue a permit would be to allow the facility to process and treat spent (used) carbon, some of which is contaminated with hazardous waste, for reuse as clean carbon. Based on the facility operator’s Human Health and Ecological Risk Assessment, EPA proposes to impose conditions on the facility operations so that there is no unreasonable risk to human health and the environment. The public is invited to provide its comments to EPA’s proposal, as set forth below.
