Fifteen tribes in the Pacific Southwest Region have pesticide regulatory programs protecting approximately 22 million acres of tribal lands – 400,000 acres more than a year ago.
- Many of these programs are developing culturally appropriate outreach materials and ways of working with pesticide applicators.
- EPA sponsored Integrated Pest Management (IPM) training for the tribes, which includes techniques for minimizing pesticide use and use of non-toxic pest control methods when feasible.
- EPA funded new Pest Management programs for eight additional tribes.
