Waste Site Cleanup & Reuse in New England
Partnerships
In addition to direct funding, assistance for the cleanup and redevelopment of brownfields properties can come in the form of partnerships at the federal and state level.
Federal Partnerships
The Brownfields
National Partnership Action Agenda formalized brownfields efforts
and commitments to brownfields redevelopment across various federal
agencies and non-federal brownfields organizations. See the national
Brownfields Web site for a list of federal
agency participants.
State Partnerships
Visit the state brownfields Web sites below for information on the
opportunities available at the state level for brownfields redevelopment:
Local Partnerships
Establishing partnerships at the local level ensures a common understanding
and goal for the stakeholders who will most likely be directly affected
by the redevelopment of a brownfields property. City or county departments
such as environment, planning, and economic development departments,
and local community development corporations (CDCs) are valuable
resources in developing cleanup and redevelopment plans, conducting
community outreach, and leveraging financial and technical resources
from public or private sources. In addition, CDCs may have information
or experience with previous redevelopment plans or priorities for
the community in the target area. Using their contacts and expertise
will save you valuable time in gaining trust and access to the affected
community members. Contact your
city's brownfields representative to find out if there are additional
information or resources in your area.
