Training Presentations
The use of vacuum distillation as a methodology to determine the concentrations
of analytes is a novel application. The development of this procedure
and its applications have taken place at Las Vegas with publications reporting
important accomplishments. However, in practicing this method some learned
details (such as identifying and trouble shooting problems) are not appropriate
for journal publications. This section as well as the Technical Notes
section will address this gap.
The apparatus itself is simple, yet setting up the system and using the
software are new experiences to laboratories. Therefore we intend to expand
this section to include items of concern from installing the equipment,
verifying the system is in order, as well as using the method 8261 software
available on this website. The presentations that are available here should
not be used in place of existing materials (method 8261, vender install
guides, software manuals) but in addition to these guides.
We will be expanding this section to address questions from users and
potential users of the vacuum distillation analyses. If there are points
for clarification please contact us through the email address at the bottom
of the page or through our Technical Information Request form.
Training presentations are reviewed in accordance with the Environmental
Protection Agency’s peer and administrative review policies and
approved for publication on this Web page.
