Estimating Risk From Contaminants Contained in Agricultural Fertilizers

EPA's fertilizer risk assessment uses existing and available data to estimate potential risks posed to human health and the environment by contaminants in fertilizers. The primary purpose of the fertilizer risk assessment is to inform the Agency's decisions as to the need for federal regulatory action on fertilizer contaminants. In addition, EPA believes that the data and analytical methods used for this risk assessment may be useful to state regulatory agencies making decisions about the need for and nature of risk-based standards for fertilizers.
