Vandenberg Air Force Base (AFB)

Vandenberg Air Force Base (AFB) (PDF 2 pages; 12K), California, has proposed a plan to take money that the facility otherwise would spend complying with administrative (i.e., permitting, record keeping, monitoring, training) requirements of the Clean Air Act, and using that money instead to upgrade and retrofit equipment (i.e., boilers, space heaters). Through this phased emissions reduction program, Vandenberg will reduce emissions from the facility from approximately 60 tons per year to 25 tons per year. This proposal, in cooperation with Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District (SBCAPCD), also proposes to develop air quality baselines from which to assess emissions reduction opportunities.
