HADCO

HADCO's printed wiring boards (PWB) and electronic interconnection products facilities in Owego, NY, and Derry, Hudson, and Salem, NH are participating in the EPA's XL project. Because of process changes since the 1970's, HADCO believes that the sludges created as a by-product of its operations are far less toxic and no longer need to be regulated as a hazardous waste. HADCO's XL project proposes to remove these sludges, which are rich in valuable copper, from regulation under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) on the condition that they are sent directly to be recycled, 100% of the cost savings realized from this project will be directed towards expanding HADCO's recovery of recyclables from wastes and to further prevent pollution. The Final Project Agreement was signed on October 2, 1997.
