EPA Goal 1: Climate Change and Improving Air Quality |
Purpose
The Hydrogen and Clean Coal Fuels Program supports DOE’s strategic goals of
increasing energy security, reducing environmental impact of energy use,
promoting economic development, and encouraging scientific discovery
and innovation by researching and developing novel technologies that
convert the nation’s abundant coal resources into hydrogen and
other clean fuels.

Climate Protection Program:
This program includes voluntary domestic and international programs that address greenhouse gases (GHG) and climate change
issues. Efforts are aimed at reducing emissions of greenhouse gases and mitigating the effects of global climate change on
the environment and human health while growing the economy. In addition, this program provides technical assistance and
online reporting tools for regulated facilities to report annual greenhouse gas emissions in support of the Greenhouse
Gas Reporting Program.
