EPA Goal 1: Climate Change and Improving Air Quality

Atmospheric System Research (ASR)

Purpose
DOE’s Atmospheric System Research is an observation-based research program created in October 2009 to advance process-level understanding of the key interactions among aerosols, clouds, precipitation, radiation, dynamics, and thermodynamics, with the ultimate goal of reducing the uncertainty in global and regional climate simulations and projections.

Federal Support for Air Quality Management:
This program includes both EPA Headquarters and Regional Federal support to state, tribal, and local air pollution control agencies for the implementation and evaluation of programs related to permitting sources of Greenhouse Gases (GHGs) under the Prevention of Significant Deterioration and Title V Greenhouse Gas Tailoring Rule.
