Participant in the National Advisory Committee for Acute Exposure Guideline Levels program

Purpose
The purpose of the proposed National Advisory Committee for Short-Term Exposure Guidance Levels for Hazardous Substances is to develop and recommend airborne guideline levels for short-term exposures to hazardous substances to the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Homeland Security: Preparedness, Response, and Recovery
This program involves activities that help the public prepare, respond, and recover from terrorist incidents. This includes clarifying EPA’s roles and responsibilities, promoting improved response capabilities within the government and industry, and developing, disseminating, and exercising new and improved tools, techniques, and capacity for responding to chemical, biological, and radiological incidents. Preparedness and response activities such as planning, training, and participation in exercises will ensure readiness of EPA personnel. EPA will coordinate Homeland Security activities with the Department of Homeland Security and other Federal agencies to ensure consistency with the National Response Plan.
