Superfund Research Program
Purpose
The Superfund Research Program (SRP) is a network of university grants that are designed to seek solutions
to the complex health and environmental issues associated with the nation's hazardous waste sites. The research
conducted by the SRP is a coordinated effort with the Environmental Protection Agency, which is the
federal entity charged with cleaning up the worst hazardous waste sites in the country.
The SRP is federally funded and administered by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences,
an institute of the National Institutes of Health.

The processes of collecting data on sites to determine the need for CERCLA response, conducting or overseeing investigations and studies
to select remedies, designing and constructing or overseeing construction of remedies and post-construction activities at non-Federal
Facility sites, including technical and administrative support activities, redevelopment, facilitating participation of states, Tribes,
and communities, and enhancing response capabilities of states and Tribes.
EPA - Technical Assistance Services for Communities Program (TASC) - Superfund: TASC is a program that provides independent educational
and technical assistance to communities. TASC primarily supports the Superfund program. In addition, support may also be provided to
communities impacted by the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act or federal facilities or dealing with air or water environmental
problems.
This EPA program offers technical assistance to help communities better understand and become involved in the cleanup process for
hazardous waste sites.
