A Guide to Indoor Air Quality Document
Purpose
This booklet was prepared by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S.
Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to help you decide whether to take actions
that can reduce the level of indoor air pollution in your own home.
Because so many Americans spend a lot of time in offices with mechanical heating, cooling,
and ventilation systems, there is also a short section on the causes of poor air quality
in offices and what you can do if you suspect that your office may have a problem.
Relevant to Objective two. Describes methods for reducing risks from toxic indoor air.

Reduce Risks from Indoor Air:
This program/project includes non-regulatory, voluntary programs that address indoor environmental asthma triggers, such as
secondhand smoke, dust mites, mold, cockroaches and other pests, household pets, and combustion byproducts through a variety
of outreach, education, training and guidance activities. This program/project also includes non-regulatory, voluntary
programs and activities that address a range of other indoor air quality issues in homes, schools, and other commercial
buildings through outreach, education, training, and guidance activities.
