EPA Goal 2: Protecting America’s Waters |
Purpose
USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) works with farmers and ranchers
to effectively manage animal waste, not only to keep it out of America's rivers and
streams, but also to turn it into a useful commodity. In the agricultural setting,
nutrients are the building blocks for plant growth and production. Common nutrients
are the elements nitrogen and phosphorus which are available in several forms.
NRCS works with farmers and ranchers to profitably manage nutrients.
