The Drinking Water Systems Center operated in cooperation with NSF International. Exit EPA Disclaimer This center verified the performance of commercial-ready drinking water treatment systems for use in small communities, or individual homes and businesses. The emphasis was on performance and cost considerations of systems for treating common small community problems, such as

  • arsenic
  • microbiological contaminants
  • particulates and
  • disinfection by-products

The center concluded operations at the end of 2013.

Verified Technologies

Drinking water treatment technologies help to protect human health and our ecological resources by reducing or preventing environmental risks. This center verified technologies in a range of categories, including

  • alternative filtration and media technologies for reduction of microbiological contaminants,
  • membrane filtration systems for reduction of microbiological and particulate contaminants
  • technologies for reduction of arsenic and inorganic chemicals.
