Abstract:

This data set portrays the roads from the State of Nevada. The file was produced by joining the individual county road files from Geographic Data Technology, Inc. (GDT) into a single data set.

Purpose:

These data are intended for geographic display and analysis at the local level, and for small regional areas. The data should be displayed and analyzed at scales appropriate for 1:100,000-scale data. No responsibility is assumed by the U.S. Geological Survey in the use of these data.

Supplemental_Information:

The county boundaries and FIPS codes used in this data set are based on 1990 TIGER boundary files from the U.S. Census Bureau.

Process_Description:

GDT road coverages were appended county-by-county into a State coverage. The State file was projected from NAD27 to NAD83. The file was checked for intersecting lines, and duplicate roads with the same geometry and attributes were deleted. Edge matching at State and county boundaries was checked and misaligned roads within a 6 meter tolerance were connected. Some attributes from item TYPE were corrected to match street type abbreviations from the GDT Dynamap user manual.
