Manifest Tracking Tool
We are providing a Microsoft Excel file of a spreadsheet tool for assigning
manifest tracking numbers (MTNs) (Mircosoft Excel format, 116 kb) to print orders and for keeping track
of the numbers assigned. 40 CFR 262.21(f)(2) requires each manifest
to include a unique, pre-printed MTN that consists of a unique, three-letter
suffix following nine digits. A user would enter basic information
on a print order into the tool to obtain the starting and ending MTN
for the order. This information can be provided to pressworkers
for production of the order. You must have the Microsoft Excel
program on your computer to use it.
We are providing this tool as a courtesy to registrants. We
recognize that some organizations already have an automated system
for calculating and assigning unique MTNs for print orders. Others,
however, might not. For them, we offer this tracking tool as
an option to consider. We are not requiring its use.
When you download this tool, you must read its instructions carefully,
even if you have used it before. We may update or modify it
periodically, so you will need to read the instructions to learn about
any changes.
Each registrant is responsible for ensuring that it is assigning and
printing unique MTNs in compliance with the regulations. EPA
does not assume any responsibility in regard to a registrant’s
use of this tool for assigning or printing MTNs. EPA also does
not make any guarantees about this tool’s performance. In
this respect, a registrant must review and understand this tool thoroughly
before using it to determine whether it is appropriate for the intended
use.
