EPA established WasteWise Endorsers to help spread the WasteWise message to more organizations. Endorsers range from state and local government agencies, trade associations, and nonprofit organizations to consulting firms and waste management companies. Through their outreach and educational activities, endorsers help their members, constituents, or customers realize that reducing solid waste makes good business sense and that WasteWise provides all the tools necessary to develop and implement waste reduction efforts that work.
By joining WasteWise, endorsers demonstrate their environmental leadership and play a pivotal role in conserving our natural resources and preventing pollution. EPA recognizes endorsers in publications and case studies as well as on the WasteWise website.
WasteWise endorsers commit to:
- Recruit organizations to become WasteWise partners. Endorsers may engage potential new partners by contacting local businesses, placing articles in newsletters, or giving a WasteWise presentation at an annual conference. EPA provides endorsers with information and materials on topics such as requirements and the benefits of WasteWise and improving waste diversion
- Provide WasteWise partners with ongoing information. Endorsers should continue to work with organizations that they recruit as WasteWise partners. Endorsers may distribute promotional or technical materials, conduct waste reduction workshops, sponsor awards, or help WasteWise partners exchange information.
- Endorser Reporting. After joining, endorsers set goals for their promotional activities during their first year of participation. In subsequent years, endorsers report on the progress they’ve made on their activities and set goals for the upcoming year via the SMM Data Management System.
