EPA Round-Table Discussion for Environmental Justice Communities on the Benefits of Addressing Climate Change

On August 2, 2016, the U.S. EPA provided a round-table discussion for Environmental Justice Communities as an opportunity to share information, find common ground, work collaboratively with community groups, and acknowledge stakeholders’ perspectives on a variety of topics about President Obama’s Climate Action Plan and the Clean Power Plan. The day-long event was held at EPA's Region 5 office.

The objectives for this discussion included:

  • Explore benefits and opportunities for communities to address climate change.
  • Discuss economic and employment opportunities from energy efficiency and renewable energy programs.
  • Share community success stories and resources on the pathways to reduce carbon pollution.
  • Engage in dialogue with stakeholders to seek common ground in addressing climate change and the Clean Power Plan and Clean Energy Incentive Program.
