A national center whose primary responsibility is to issue and manage environmental research grant and fellowship programs.

A grant program designed to support the work of nonprofit organizations around the world to further environmental research and education. - Pollution Prevention Incentives for States (PPIS)
A grant program that provides matching funds to states to support pollution prevention activities and develop state programs. - Science to Achieve Results (STAR)
A grant program coordinated by the National Center for Environmental Research and Quality Assurance. University and not-for-profit research institutions are eligible for STAR program grantscompetitive, investigator-initiated research grants fostering innovative and far reaching scientific projects that will assist in solving future environmental problems and fill gaps in knowledge necessary to meet EPA regulatory goals.

An important part of EPAs research and development efforts, the SBIR Program makes awards to small, high-tech firms for research and development of cutting-edge technologies. - Sustainable Jobs Fund (SJF)
A community development venture capital fund that makes investments in growth enterprises which create quality jobs in economically distressed regions of the eastern United States. SJFs strategic focus is on the recycling, remanufacturing, environmental and other sectors that are uniquely suited to generating employment for former welfare recipients and low-income individuals. - USDA Rural Business-Cooperative Service (RBS)
Administers a number of programs designed to help foster a strong business environment in rural America. The emphasis is on funding projects that create or preserve quality jobs and/or promote a clean rural environment. Funds can be used to finance the building of facilities.
