Status of Counties In the 22-State Plus DC Region Not Meeting the Revised 8-hour 0.08 ppm Ozone NAAQS after Regional NOx Controls
This information should be understood with two caveats: 1. This list of counties is based on air quality data from 1993-95. The data from this period will not be the basis for nonattainment area designations for the 8-hour ozone standard. Those designations will be made in the 2000 time frame and will be based on the most recent air quality data available at that time (1997-1999). Therefore, while EPA expects that the vast majority of new counties will attain as a result of the NOx regional control strategy, the number of new counties may be more or less than the number indicated in the table. 2. The estimate in this list of which counties will attain the 8-hour standard is based on specific assumptions related to control levels similar but not identical to the recently issued regional NOx SIP Call. EPA is planning to make estimates based on the final NOx budgets in the SIP Call and this list may change at that time.
