This will affect all older data bases including older mapping software (geo-files). (If your mapping software knows Dade county as 12025 and your new data has 12086, there will be a problem.) http://www.census.gov/population/www/estimates/geonotes/12.html Dade County, Florida - name change, from Dade to Miami-Dade; FIPS change, from 025 to 086; effective 11/13/97 http://www.census.gov/population/www/estimates/geonotes/51.html South Boston, Virginia - city (formerly independent of any county) became dependent within Halifax County; area description change, from city to town; County FIPS change, from 780 to 083, effective June 30, 1995 http://www.census.gov/population/www/estimates/geonotes/30.html That part of Yellowstone National Park within Montana (30113) formerly was not within a county and was treated as a county equivalent for statistical data tabulation purposes. In November 7, 1997, the area was dissolved as a county equivalent and its territory subdivided between Gallatin County and Park County, Montana; this change eliminates Yellowstone National Park (FIPS:113) as a county equivalent. |
