Technical Assistance Services for Communities, also known as TASC, is available to assist communities by offering technical interpretation and advice on issues dealing with contamination. TASC experts are part of the Hazardous Substance Research Centers, a group of university centers focused on hazardous substance management. Although EPA provides funding for the TASC program, the Agency allows TASC to interact directly with communities without interference from EPA. TASC assistance is available to all communities dealing with contamination, especially those with sites that are not on the Superfund list and, therefore, are not eligible for EPA's Technical Assistance Grant (TAG). TASC experts decide which projects are most compatible with their abilities and expertise.
In Region 9 and Region 10 (Seattle), TASC is located at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon.
