Protecting Farmworkers from Pesticides
EPA has proposed revisions to the Agricultural Worker Protection Standard (WPS) to increase protections from pesticide exposure for the nation’s two million agricultural workers and their families. The proposal includes improvements to the existing regulation, such as annual safety training, mandatory posting of no-entry signs for the most hazardous pesticides, a first-ever minimum age requirement for handling pesticides, and new no-entry buffer areas surrounding pesticide-treated fields. Public comments are due June 17, 2014.
