Information about LUST Recovery Act Assistance Agreement Between U.S. EPA Region 4 and the State of Tennessee as of July 9, 2009

In the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, Congress appropriated $200 million from the Leaking Underground Storage Tank (LUST) Trust Fund to EPA for assessing and cleaning up leaks from underground storage tanks. Assistance Agreement between U.S. EPA Region 4 and the State of Tennessee

Date Assistance Agreement Was Awarded: July 9, 2009

Amount of Assistance Agreement: $4,681,000

Summary of Work: Money from the LUST Recovery Act will be used fund cleanups at 44 UST sites where the owner or operator is unknown, unwilling, or unable to respond. In addition, 18 dual phase corrective action systems will also be purchased to be used to remediate specific sites approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and placed at select sites. These corrective action systems will be used to cleanup up many petroleum contaminated sites even after the Recovery Act funds are gone.
