Workshop for Kentucky Hospitals and Healthcare Facilities
On June 1, 2007, EPA partnered with the Kentucky Department for Environmental Protection (KY DEP), the Kentucky Pollution Prevention Center (KPPC), and the Kentucky Hospital Association (KHA) to sponsor an Environmental Compliance Assistance Workshop for Hospitals and Healthcare Facilities. The workshop provided hospital and healthcare personnel with information and resources needed to comply with federal and state environmental laws and regulations, as well as the benefits of pollution prevention, energy efficiency, sustainability, and environmental management systems.
EPA Region 4 began its Compliance Assistance Initiative for Hospitals and Healthcare Facilities in 2005. In addition to the recent workshop in Kentucky, workshops have previously been held for hospitals in Georgia, Florida and South Carolina. A workshop for North Carolina hospitals and healthcare facilities is planned for Fall of 2007.
