Connecticut
The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection, Bureau of Natural Resources, Forestry Division is responsible for forest management in Connecticut. The Forestry Division:

  • Manages state-owned forest lands for multiple uses.
  • Assists private forest land owners and the wood products industry.
  • Manages programs to prevent and control forest fires.
  • Certifies forest practioners doing business in Connecticut.

Rhode Island
The Division of Forest Environment manages 40,000 acres of state-owned rural forestland. It coordinates a statewide forest fire protection plan, provides forest fire protection on state lands, assists rural volunteer fire departments, and develops forest and wildlife management plans for private landowners who choose to manage their property in ways that will protect these resources on their land. The Program promotes public understanding of environmental conservation, enforces Department rules and regulations on DEM lands, and assists the federal government in providing landowner assistance programs. The Program manages George Washington Campground, as well as four intensively used beaches, a horseman's campground and a cross-country skiing area.

Vermont
The Forestry Division of the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation is responsible for forest management in Vermont. The Forestry Division is staffed with foresters and specialists who provide information and technical assistance to the public and the forest industry, and manage state-owned forest lands. The division includes a Forest Resource Protection and Urban Community Forestry section that monitors forest health, supervises forest fire prevention, and assists private landowners with the protection of tree and forest health. The division also includes a Forest Resource Management section that helps private forest land owners manage their land and trees, and conducts educational programs in schools and communities. The Green Mountain Forest Service manages Vermont's Green Mountain National Forest. The main office is located in Rutland VT and can be reached at (802) 747-6700.
