Anheuser-Busch (AB) is proposing to develop a multi-media permitting approach that would include an expanded emissions bubble to encompass the local power plant and wastewater treatment facility that service the AB facility in Jacksonville, Florida. These three facilities would trade and bank emissions to reduce costs while enhancing community environmental protection. The other critical element of this pilot project would utilize AB's environmental management system (EMS) to: (1) Identify and implement pollution prevention projects; (2) Evaluate the use of ISO 14000 as a standard for environmental protection; and (3) Conduct self-assessments of compliance performance. Anheuser-Busch has presented its proposal to representatives of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, the Jacksonville Regulatory and Environmental Services Division, and the Jacksonville Electric Authority.
