President William Clinton

Dear President Clinton:
We are writing to express our strong concern regarding
the proposed XL Project of the Citgo Oil Refinery in Corpus Christi,
Texas. The proposal has no environmental benefits. In addition,
Citgo is one of 13 facilities in a low-income, people of color neighborhood
of Corpus Christi, known as "refinery row", that has been
extensively contaminated by above ground storage tanks and frequent
chemical releases.
We strongly oppose the Citgo proposal because it has no stakeholder
support from key groups concerned with environmental justice issues
created by the company's pollution. Citgo should not be
given a gold star by being recognized by the high profile "XL project"
for do nothing to address their primary problems.
Please instruct your staff to scratch this company from the list immediately.
Do not hesitate to contact us for more information.
Sincerely,
Denny A. Larson, Coordinator, NORAN Project
