The attached resolution is submitted on behalf of the Leadership and Membership of the International Chemical Workers Union, Local 94C of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union at Merck & Co. - Stonewall to express our support for the Merck project XL which you currently have under consideration. RESOLUTION ON PROJECT XL

WHEREAS the Leadership and Membership of the International Chemical Workers Union, Local 94C of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union are continually striving to partner with Merck & Co. - Stonewall, and the surrounding community, to uphold the highest possible ethical standards and business virtues.

WHEREAS the Leadership and Membership of the International Chemical Workers Union, Local 94C of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union are mandated to speak out in support of issues or concepts which are in direct alignment with the values we as a Union hold in high regard.

WHEREAS the Leadership and Membership of the International Chemical Workers Union, Local 94C of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union realize that preservation of the environment is an investment that will help preserve high quality jobs to support our families now and in the future.

WHEREAS the Leadership and Membership of the International Chemical Workers Union, Local 94C of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union feel it is imperative to protect the environment of our beautiful state of Virginia.

WHEREAS the Leadership and Membership of the International Chemical Workers Union, Local 94C of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union also recognize that protection of the environment will help ensure the quality of the hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, canoeing and all outdoor activities which generations in the Shenandoah Valley look to as a tradition.

WHEREAS the Leadership and Membership of the International Chemical Workers Union, Local 94C of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union recognize that Project XL will help achieve these environmental and business goals by reducing air emissions and simplifying the air regulatory process.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Leadership and Membership of the International Chemical Workers Union, Local 94C of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union at Merck & Company - Stonewall support Project XL and the critical commitment of maintaining and improving our environment. We believe Project XL will help ensure a better future for Merck and Company, Local 94C, and the surrounding community.
