Example Design: Four Panel Watershed Sample Sites in Oregon
The Northwest Forest Plan (NFP) developed an aquatic monitoring program to monitor watershed conditions within the range of the Northern Spotted Owl (Western Washington, Oregon and Northern California). The program objectives resulted in a focus on 6th field watersheds. GIS maps of 6th field watershed boundaries were developed for the NFP region. The GRTS design was applied to select 4 panels of watersheds, as shown in this figure. The rotating panel GRTS design included 50 watersheds for sampling in each panel (year).
