The Bridges Golf Resort, designed by Palmer Design and constructed
in 1996, is located on approximately 110 acres with 35 acres
of wetlands, wildlife corridors and 65 acres of maintained
turf. Adjacent to the Bay of St. Louis, leading to the Mississippi
Sound, in the Southern Coastal Plains region, coastal marsh
lands surround the north, northwest and east sides of the
course with the dominant ecological communities being Pine
Flatwoods, Salt Marsh and freshwater Wetlands. Due to the
environmentally sensitive location of the golf course, it
is designed and maintained for recreation with conservation
as a priority.
The main goal of The Bridges
Golf Course at Casino Magic is to provide a recreational golf
facility for the public using Best Management Practices and
Integrated Pest Management in order to preserve the native
environment and provide habitat for plant and animal species.

Photo 1: Gas refueling
tanks are contained in concrete bins, which sit on
a concrete floor. This makes for easy cleanup in the
event of a mishap and no danger to the environment. |

Photo 2: Decision-makers
at Casino Magic opted to go the extra mile for chemical
storage. The floor of this chemical storage shed is
specially treated and slanted to the rear to easily
contain spills in the unlikely event a spill should
happen. |

friendly duck weed with algae. The ponds serve to
filter the nutrients and other contaminants out of
the water. |

Photo 5: A beautiful
view of the Bay of St. Louis can be seen from the
6th, 7th, 8th, and
9th holes. Environmental protection was
a priority goal of the golf course planners since
the course sits on 110 acres of pinewoods, salt marsh
and fresh water wetlands adjacent to the Bay. |
