The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and its Government of Mexico counterpart, the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT, as it is known in Spanish), are announcing the availability of the draft U.S.-Mexico Environmental Program: Border 2025 framework document.
The draft Border 2025 framework document proposes a five-year, binational environmental program for the U.S.-Mexico border region and outlines key areas for environmental cooperation between the U.S. and Mexico. This draft Border 2025 framework document has been developed with input from U.S. federally recognized Tribes along the border and environmental agencies from the states in the border region.
EPA and SEMARNAT look forward to signing the Border 2025 framework document in September 2020. The signing will kick off the new U.S.-Mexico Border Program and will provide a path forward to achieve tangible benefits for border communities.
The draft document will be available from June 1 until July 24, 2020. If you would like to provide your observations, please send them to Border2025@epa.gov by close of business July 24, 2020.
