Public Notice: Proposed Reissuance of Two NPDES Permits in Arizona: Alchesay and Williams Creek National Fish Hatcheries

Summary

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region IX (EPA) is issuing a notice of proposed action under the Clean Water Act. EPA is proposing to reissue National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits AZ0000116 and AZ0000124 to two fish hatcheries operated by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service. The two fish hatcheries are located on White Mountain Apache Tribal lands and treat fish rearing wastewater in Arizona.

Alchesay National Fish Hatchery

The Alchesay National Fish Hatchery discharges approximately 10.8 million gallons daily (“MGD”) of wastewater and discharges to the North Fork Whiteriver, AZ.

Williams Creek National Fish Hatchery

The Alchesay National Fish Hatchery discharges approximately 4.2 million gallons daily (“MGD”) of wastewater and discharges to the Williams Creek, AZ.
