Public Notice: Proposed Reissuance of Two NPDES Permits in Arizona: Alchesay and Williams Creek National Fish Hatcheries

The permit and administrative record are available for review on EPA’s website (links are at left) or by reaching out to the contact below. Interested persons may submit written comments on the draft permit during the public comment period. All comments or objections received within the comment period will be retained and considered in the formulation of the final permit determination. Comments or a request for a public hearing may be made in writing to the contact below.

Upon issuance of a final permit decision and response to comments, the EPA will notify the applicant and persons who submitted written comments or requested notice of the final permit decision. Within 33 days after EPA issues the final permit, any person who filed comments on the draft permit or participated in the public hearing may petition the Environmental Appeals Board to review any condition of the permit decision.

When public interest warrants, EPA may schedule a public hearing or may grant an extension of the comment period for the submittal of comments or objections.

Summary

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region IX (EPA) is issuing a notice of proposed action under the Clean Water Act. EPA is proposing to reissue National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits AZ0000116 and AZ0000124 to two fish hatcheries operated by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service. The two fish hatcheries are located on White Mountain Apache Tribal lands and treat fish rearing wastewater in Arizona.

Alchesay National Fish Hatchery
