Public Notice: Eastern Kern County Nonattainment Area 2008 Ozone NAAQS Reclassification From "Moderate" to "Serious"; Final Approval; California State Implementation Plan

Summary

Under the Clean Air Act, EPA is granting a request by the State of California to reclassify the Eastern Kern County (“Eastern Kern”) nonattainment area from “Moderate” to “Serious” for the 2008 ozone national ambient air quality standards (NAAQS). In connection with the reclassification, EPA is establishing a deadline of no later than 12 months from the effective date of reclassification for submittal of revisions to the Eastern Kern portion of the California State Implementation Plan (SIP) to meet certain additional requirements for Serious ozone nonattainment areas. EPA has already received SIP revision submittals addressing most of the additional SIP requirements
