In a letter dated Feb. 13, 2017, EPA approved KCBX’s request to terminate the monitoring requirements at the South Terminal. Ambient air monitoring continues at the South Terminal under the City of Chicago Regulation (PDF). (19 pp, 185 K, About PDF) Exit
The letter reads in part:
"On January 20, 2017, KCBX requested termination of the requirements of the November 15, 2014, Information Request and its amendments. EPA grants this request. The South Terminal is now a direct transfer operation, which no longer stores bulk solid materials in outdoor piles.
This termination request only applies to EPA's Information Request and does not address the City of Chicago requirements for air monitoring. KCBX is still required to operate air monitors and a meteorological station in accordance with the City of Chicago regulations."
