KCBX Notice of Violation - April 28, 2015

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency issued a Notice of Violation to KCBX Terminals Company (KCBX), Chicago, Illinois on April 28, 2014 for an alleged violation of the Clean Air Act.  The southeast monitor at the KCBX North Plant, 3259 E. 100th St., Chicago, recorded levels of particulate matter with a diameter less than 10 micrometers that exceeded federal National Ambient Air Quality Standards.  KCBX has 30 days to respond to EPA.  This is the second Notice of Violation EPA has issued to KCBX since air monitors were installed around the facility in 2014.  EPA issued this Notice of Violation in coordination with the Illinois EPA, the City of Chicago, and other agencies.
