Effective June 1, 2015: Changes to User Fee Collection Process

The United States Department of the Treasury is changing the accepted ways to submit payments for various United States government fees, including PRIA payments and maintenance fee payments. There are two phases to this change, which will ultimately result in the elimination of checks, bank drafts, or money orders as acceptable forms of payment by September 30, 2015.

Important Deadlines:

Starting June 1, 2015:

  • Credit card payments above $25,000 will no longer be accepted.
  • Any payments above $25,000 must be made by electronic funds transfer (ACH) via www.pay.gov/public/home.

Starting September 30, 2015:

  • Checks, bank drafts, and money orders will no longer be processed.  The last day that any checks should be mailed is September 15, 2015, to allow time for delivery and processing.
  • The remaining payment options for PRIA and maintenance fees will be: electronic funds transfer; credit card ($25,000 or less); and, PayPal and Dwolla ($10,000 or less).
