WASHINGTON - EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy will speak today at the National Water Policy Forum. She will focus on the need to protect our nation's streams and wetlands that provide drinking water to 1 in 3 Americans and are currently vulnerable to pollution and destruction.

She will also discuss policy measures aimed at shoring up the nation's aging water infrastructure and enhancing its resiliency in the face of climate change. The Administrator's speech follows a Clean Water Tour through Minnesota, Texas and Illinois with events at two water treatment facilities and a groundbreaking ceremony at a school in Dallas to kick off the National Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation.

EPA and Army Corps of Engineers sent the Clean Water Rule to the White House Office of Management and Budget for interagency review on April 3. After more than 400 meetings with stakeholders across the country and input from more than one million public comments, the Agencies will finalize a rule that strengthens manufacturing, farming and other major economic sectors that rely on clean water to function and flourish.
