EPA Brownfields Grant Award Ceremony to be Held at Lawson State Community College
ATLANTA – The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will recognize three recently announced Birmingham area brownfields grant recipients in an award ceremony at Lawson State Community College on Wednesday, June 1, 2016.
The Brownfields grant recipients are Lawson State Community College, the City of Birmingham, and the City of Tarrant.
WHO: USEPA, Birmingham area grant recipients and their multiple partners, local/state/federal elected officials, the N. Birmingham Brownfields Task Force, the North Birmingham Community Coalition, and more.

EPA’s Brownfields Program strives to expand the ability of communities to recycle vacant and abandoned properties for new, productive reuses. The investments will provide communities with the funding necessary to assess, clean up and redevelop contaminated properties, boost local economies and leverage jobs while protecting public health and the environment.
