About the Director of EPA’s National Center for Environmental Assessment (NCEA)

Tina Bahadori, Sc.D.

Tina Bahadori is the Director of the National Center for Environmental Assessment (NCEA) at the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) since January 2017. As such, Dr. Bahadori oversees a portfolio of NCEA programs and products including:

the Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) Program,
the Provision Peer-Reviewed Toxicity Values (PPRTVs) Program,
the Integrated Science Assessments (ISAs) for Air Criteria Pollutants,
the Report on the Environment (ROE),
the EPA Expo-Box and Eco-Box Exposure Program tools, and
several human health and ecological risk assessment publications, tools and databases.

Prior to this position, Dr. Bahadori was a National Program Director for the Chemical Safety for Sustainability Program in EPA's Office of Research and Development (ORD). Before joining EPA in May 2012, she was the Managing Director of the Long-Range Research Initiative at the American Chemistry Council (ACC). Dr. Bahadori is a member of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) Chemical Sciences Roundtable and an Agency Liaison to the NAS Committee on Emerging Science for Environmental Health Decisions. She also serves on the National Science Foundation’s Advisory Committee for Environmental Research and Education.

Dr. Bahadori holds the following degrees:

Sc.D. in Environmental Science and Engineering, Harvard School of Public Health, 1998.
M.S. in Chemical Engineering and Technology and Policy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 1988.
B.S. in Chemical Engineering and in Humanities, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 1984.
