EPA Region 10 conducted an analysis of the Coast Range Ecoregion of Oregon and Washington EMAP data. Ecoregions are distinct geographic areas based on characteristics of the topography, climate, soils, geology and naturally occurring vegetation. This analysis integrates the EMAP landscape data and surface waters data to identify the key natural factors and human disturbance attributes useful for estimating fish assemblages. The purpose is to determine the extent to which natural gradients and human disturbance factors at a landscape scale account for variation in the Coast Range Ecoregion fish assemblage. The goal of this project is to contribute to the development of indicators of stress by considering metrics that can be influential at the broad scale of the ecoregion.
