Plume Diving
What about plume diving? We know that in areas of surface recharge, plumes tend to plunge vertically with downgradient migration as precipitation accumulates on the water table. The annual precipitation at this location is 42 inches per year. Of that, about half , or 21 inches is expected to recharge to the groundwater on average USGS, 1972. We have already stated that this is a very shallow water table (<5 feet below the surface), and that it is in a residential area. Residential areas with well-maintained lawns and landscaping require watering, which can add considerably to the total annual recharge.
