Reclassifications

EPA received nine requests for reclassification to a lower category - a "bump down." No areas requested reclassification to a higher category - a "bump up." This page includes the requests.

State Recommendations
EPA asked the states to recommend whether or not areas were in attainment for ozone in 2000. Because of continuing litigation, the Agency deferred designation action. With litigation resolved, EPA asked the states to, by July 15, 2003, either reaffirm or revise their 2000 recommendations or submit new recommendations. State recommendations for both 2000 and 2003 are presented here.

Tribal Recommendations
EPA asked the tribes to recommend whether or not areas were in attainment for ozone in 2000. Because of continuing litigation, the Agency deferred designation action. Tribal recommendations for both 2000 and 2003 are presented here.
