Compton Water Infrastructure

EPA is considering the award of a Water Infrastructure grant to the City of Compton to Construction Extraction Well No. 20, a new water well and pump house, to ensure adequate water supplies are available to the City and potable water is free from contaminants. Extraction Well No. 20 would be located on turf in the southwestern corner of Sibrie Park in the northwesterly portion of the city. The project is bounded by Compton Avenue on the west, El Segundo Blvd on the north and W.130th Street to the south in the City of Compton, Los Angeles County, California.

EPA's involvement in the Compton, California project is part of a national commitment to improve water quality. In compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), an Environmental Assessment (EA) has been prepared that analyzes the potential environmental impacts of the proposed project. Based on a review of the EA, EPA determined that the project will not have significant environmental impacts and has issued a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI).
