Established in 1905, the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) Exiting EPA (disclaimer) is an agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The Forest Service manages public lands in national forests and grasslands. These national forests and grasslands encompass 193 million acres of land. The mission of the USFS is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the Nation's forests and grasslands to meet the needs of present and future generations.
