Notice of the Availability of an Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact
EPA has received an application for financial assistance from the Clark County Water Reclamation District for the wastewater portion of the Searchlight Improvements Project. As required by the National Environmental Policy Act, the EPA has adopted an Environmental Assessment prepared by US BLM for this project and has prepared an Supplemental Environmental Assessment (SEA) that evaluates the potential environmental effects and consequences of the proposed project. This notice announces the availability of the EA and draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for public review and comment.
The proposed project is for the upgrade of existing sanitary treatment facilities, lift station, force main, and utilities. The project will remove nitrate from wastewater to meet Nevada's nitrate water quality standard, to provide capacity as individual septic tanks fail and new homes require wastewater treatment.
