ETV International

U.S. ETV Time line

International interest in verification is growing. These countries have pilot or fully operating programs:

Other interested countries are:

China expects having its own program by 2015.  U.S. ETV helped foster the development of many of these programs by holding workshops and sharing information about the U.S. program —

Over the years, US ETV hosted and participated in international workshops, meetings, and forums on verification. ETV was a founding member of the International Working Group on Environmental Technology Verification (IWG-ETV) in 2007, along with Canada and the European Commission. The Philippines and South Korea joined the IWG-ETV in 2009 and 2012, respectively. ETV worked collaboratively with these countries on several joint verification tests. Mutual program collaboration could help vendors access international marketplaces more efficiently.

The IWG-ETV is working to develop a common approach to verification so that, in time, participating countries are able to mutually recognize each others verifications - “Verify once, Accept Everywhere.”  Canada submitted a request to the International Standards Organization to develop an ETV standard and ISO accepted the request.  EPA is working with ISO to ensure the knowledge gained from the U.S. ETV program is captured in the international standard.
